Phoenix Young People's Counselling Service uses only counsellors who are professionally qualified and experienced in working with young people. They are insured,CRB checked and work in accordance with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) ethical framework.

The kinds of counselling offered will be dependent on the child or young person's needs, and are aimed at those between 5 and 13 years old. The number of sessions will also depend on the child but initially they will be seen for between 6 -10 sessions with the option of further sessions if needed.

Many of us face times in our life when things just seem too much; emotional and personal difficulties mount up and we are left feeling overwhelmed. Children are no exception to this. Indeed it is often more difficult for them as their feelings may be harder to identify and express. Behaviour is usually affected and a child may react in a number of ways: becoming unusually withdrawn, out of control or showing significant or subtle changes in their habits and personality.
Exploring their lives with an experienced counsellor in a confidential, non-judgmental setting helps children and young people identify and work through their feelings and emotions. It can help them develop coping strategies to deal with difficult situations, and feel more positive about themselves.
